• SEX DURING PREGNANCY, IS IT SAFE?

    This is one of the questions most new couples who are expecting for the first time will ask.

    While some are scared it can cause miscarriage, others believe it can result in developmental problems.

    Some men will also completely avoid their wives with the intention of protecting the unborn baby and also to give their partners some space.

    Some women will also avoid having sex due to the hormonal and emotional changes that occur with pregnancy.

    It is worth knowing that sex during pregnancy is #safe and does not pose a problem to the mum or unborn baby. Baby is enclosed in its sac/membranes and the opening of the uterus the cervix is also closed. It also has a mucus plug that prevents anything from entering the uterus.

    What is important is to have considerations. The pregnancy hormones and the early signs and symptoms can make a woman not desire to be intimate. It's important for her partner to be considerate to support her through the process. There are times she will want to be intimate, there are times she will refrain. Make use of her happy days.

    Some women who have had repeated abortions or threatened abortions may be advised by their doctors or midwives to avoid sex especially if an incompetent cervix is diagnosed.

    Couples can have sex from the second trimester of the pregnancy. It is only to be #avoided when your midwife or doctor advises you due to your health condition.

    During the last trimester, couples can still have sex. What is needed is to assume a position that will not put pressure on the abdomen and also the woman will be comfortable. It should also be gentle.

    During the last trimester when labor is about to set in, it is believed to help trigger the onset of labor. The semen also contains prostaglandin which also helps to soften the cervix and help labor to start.

    Its also important to know that, you really do not need sex to maintain your pregnancy. Baby is safe and mum is also safe. Women should not be compelled to have sex if they don't feel like or are currently not in any relationship whilst pregnant. Labor will still be initiated naturally.

  • Hi Mama, we know you want to glow effortlessly during your pregnancy but let your skin be. We promise, it would snap back after your post partum stage.

    In the verge to glow, some skincare ingredients can absorb into your bloodstream and potentially affect your baby. Here are skincare products you should avoid when pregnant:

    1. *Retinoids (Retinol, Retin-A, Tretinoin) *
    These powerful anti-aging ingredients can be harmful during pregnancy and are linked to birth defects. Opt for bakuchiol, a natural alternative!

    2. *Salicylic Acid (High Concentrations)*
    While low doses (like in face washes) may be safe, high-dose salicylic acid (in peels or treatments) should be avoided. Instead, try azelaic acid for acne treatment.

    3. *Hydroquinone*
    Used for skin-lightening and hyperpigmentation, hydroquinone has a high absorption rate. Stick to natural brightening alternatives like vitamin C.

    4. *Chemical Sunscreens* (Oxybenzone, Avobenzone)
    Some chemical sunscreens can disrupt hormones. Opt for mineral sunscreens with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide instead.

    5. *Formaldehyde & Parabens*
    Found in some nail polishes and hair treatments, formaldehyde is a known carcinogen. Stick to pregnancy-safe, non-toxic beauty brands.

    6. *Essential Oils (Certain Types* )
    Some essential oils, like rosemary, clary sage, and tea tree oil, may cause contractions or hormone imbalances. Always check with your doctor before use!

    Pro Tip: Always read ingredient labels and opt for gentle, fragrance-free, and pregnancy-safe skincare products! When in doubt, consult your dermatologist or Genealogist

  • THE PRINCESS WHO COULD NOT TALK 3
    Solely written by ✍🏽 Precious Dakare Stories
    ~~~~~~~~~
    The queen being the evil monster she was decided to take action that left the innocent Sophia helpless even before the king.
    The law stated that anyone that stole from the royal family will be punished by the queen. So the queen used this as an opportunity to punish Sophia.
    The queen banished her from the castle and made her to stay in the servants quarter. Sophia was helpless and the king could not do as it was the law.
    Sophia had no choice but to move to the servants quarter. Sophia was a given a room to stay and was always locked in the room like a prisoner.
    Many years went on and Sophia got used to her life of muteness. The queen and her children where happy after Sophia had left their presence.
    Mary used this as an opportunity to get closer to her dad. The king had began to forget about Sophia and it was as if a spell was cast on him.
    The servants were warned not to open the door to her room. Although they were allowed to serve her food. This continued for many years and no one remembered Sophia anymore.
    A new maid was employed in the castle. The maid was a really curious young girl who loved wandering around the castle. One day, she was asked to serve someone who stayed in the servants quarter.
    She was ordered not to open the door but only place the bowl of food on the front of the door. The maid arrived at the servant's quarter and dropped the food at the door like she was ordered to.
    Being a curious girl, she opened the door and went into the room. She had heard rumors that the person who lived there was an evil person and all the maids avoided the room.
  • I visited my close friend one day and found him and his new girlfriend fighting outside
    They were at each other’s throats—yelling, pushing, and creating a scene while the neighbors watched from the sidelines, some laughing and others shaking their heads. Nobody stepped in to help
    It was embarrassing
    I quickly rushed over, separated them, and tried to calm things down. She was still boiling and screaming at him, so I helped her pack her things and ordered a ride for her
    As soon as she left, my friend started showing me bite marks and scratches all over his body
    He broke down, complaining about how miserable his life had become. He said his girlfriend was jealous, temperamental, and always picking fights over the smallest things
    Then he started crying—real tears. He admitted he missed his ex and regretted cheating on her with this toxic girlfriend. (Story by Ajebo Writer) “I messed everything up,” he said, holding his head in his hands
    I sat him down and told him the hard truth: this relationship was toxic, and he needed to end it. “Why keep enduring this?” I asked
    After about thirty minutes and a bucket of tears, he swore he was done. He even showed me the breakup text he was going to send her and thanked me for being there for him
    When I left, he was still in pain, but I promised to check in on him the next day
    Very early the following day, I visited as promised. I knocked several times, but there was no response. (Story by Ajebo Writer) I called his phone, but he didn’t pick up. I didn’t want to panic, so I turned to go and get help
    Just then, I heard him call my name from inside
    A few minutes later, he opened the door, smiling sheepishly. He was shirtless and wearing only boxers
    “Come in, come in,” he said, acting like everything was fine
    As I stepped inside, my jaw dropped. There, sitting on his bed and wearing his shirt, was the girlfriend he had promised to break up with
    She smiled and greeted me warmly, as if nothing had happened. I turned to my friend, expecting an explanation, but he avoided my eyes
    Then she walked up to him, kissed him long and passionately on the lips, and said, “Honey, no matter what anybody says, nobody can ever come between us. I love you, and no ‘animal’ can ever separate us.”
    "Yes, honey. Our enemies have failed,” he replied.
    They burst into laughter. Then, as if to crown the madn3ss, he started singing, “As e dey pain them, e go dey sweet us,” and two of them were dancing and laughing
    I just stood there for a moment, completely speechless. Then I got up and left
    Na my fault, na myself I blame.
  • Common Mistakes in Poultry Farming and How to Avoid Them:
    Poultry farming can be highly rewarding, but avoiding certain mistakes is key to maintaining healthy birds and ensuring a successful operation. Below are some of the most common errors farmers make and how to prevent them.
    1. Neglecting to Identify Sick Birds Early
    Observing your birds daily is essential to catching health issues before they spread. Healthy birds are active, have bright red or pink combs, and keep their feathers clean and shiny. Signs of sickness include sluggish behavior, loss of appetite, swollen legs, discolored combs, heavy breathing, and reduced egg production. If a bird shows these symptoms, isolate it immediately for treatment and check for injuries or infections before returning it to the flock.
    2. Providing Inadequate Housing
    Proper housing is vital for ensuring the health and productivity of your birds. Poultry houses should maintain a consistent temperature, as chickens cannot regulate their body heat effectively. Insulated roofs and walls help with this. Additionally, ensure proper airflow by using adjustable curtains that prevent direct drafts while allowing fresh air to circulate. Overcrowding should be avoided, as it leads to stress, feather pecking, and other issues.
    3. Using Harmful Chemicals Near Poultry
    Chemicals such as insecticides, herbicides, and rodenticides can pose serious risks to your birds. Avoid using these substances near the poultry house or areas where your birds roam. If chemicals must be used, apply them sparingly and ensure the area is free of residues before allowing birds access.
    4. Poor Sanitation and Ventilation
    Keeping the poultry house clean and well-ventilated is crucial. Dirty, poorly lit, and poorly ventilated coops can lead to respiratory problems, infestations, and reduced egg production. Regularly clean the bedding, sanitize the area, and ensure sufficient airflow. Rotating the coop to face east or west can help optimize natural light exposure.
    5. Providing Impure Water
    Clean water is essential for your birds’ health. Contaminated water can lead to various illnesses and lower productivity. Always ensure that drinking water is free of impurities and refreshed regularly.
    6. Feeding Low-Quality Diets
    The feed you provide significantly impacts your birds’ growth, egg production, and overall health. Ensure that you use high-quality, nutrient-rich feed suitable for the specific needs of your birds. Feeding schedules should be consistent to maximize productivity.
    7. Choosing the Wrong Breed
    Selecting a breed that aligns with your farming goals is crucial. Some breeds are better suited for meat production, while others excel in egg production. Research and choose a breed that meets your specific objectives and is suitable for your local environment.
    8. Ignoring Biosecurity Measures
    Preventing diseases is easier than treating them. Implement biosecurity measures such as limiting access to the farm, controlling vehicle entry, and sanitizing equipment. Avoid allowing buyers or visitors unrestricted access to chicken houses, as this can introduce diseases.
    By paying attention to these critical aspects, poultry farmers can avoid common pitfalls, improve productivity, and maintain a healthy flock. Regular observation, proper housing, and maintaining a clean environment are just some of the simple but effective steps to achieve success in poultry farming.
  • Chickens, including Rhode Island Reds, Leghorns, and Plymouth Rocks, have varied diets, but it's important to provide them with a balanced and nutritious feed. Here are some guidelines on what they can eat and what to avoid:
    Suitable Foods
    1. **Commercial Poultry Feed**:
    - **Layer Feed**: Specifically formulated for laying hens, providing essential nutrients.
    - **Starter and Grower Feed**: For chicks and young birds.
    2. **Grains**:
    - Corn, wheat, barley, and oats can be given in moderation.
    3. **Vegetables**:
    - Leafy greens (e.g., kale, spinach), carrots, and cucumbers are great additions.
    - Avoid starchy vegetables in excess, like potatoes.
    4. **Fruits**:
    - Apples (without seeds), berries, and melons are enjoyed by chickens.
    5. **Protein Sources**:
    - Mealworms, insects, and small amounts of cooked eggs or meat can provide extra protein.
    6. **Grasses and Weeds**:
    - Chickens enjoy foraging for various grasses and edible weeds.
    Foods to Avoid
    1. **Toxic Plants**:
    - Certain plants, like nightshades (tomatoes, potatoes, eggplants), can be harmful.
    2. **Processed Foods**:
    - Foods high in salt, sugar, or fat should be avoided.
    3. **Onions and Garlic**:
    - These can cause health issues if consumed in large quantities.
    4. **Chocolate and Caffeine**:
    - Both are toxic to chickens and should never be fed.
    5. **Raw Beans**:
    - Raw kidney beans contain toxins that can be harmful to chickens.
    Summary
    While chickens can eat a variety of foods, a balanced diet primarily consisting of high-quality poultry feed, along with fruits, vegetables, and occasional treats, is best for their health and egg production. Always ensure that any new foods are introduced gradually and in moderation!
