  • Sad story
I met this guy sometime in 2016. He was selling shoes at Makola and I was a pupil teacher in a school. He was a good man and even though he wasn't rich, he was very generous with the little he had. This motivated me and I decided to contribute to his life because of his good character. I wanted to go to the training college and was saving up for it. Same time, he also wanted to continue his studies. He was very intelligent so I decided to give him my savings to add up to his so he could go to school because after all he's a man and if he had a fruitful life, it affected me too.
So by 2018, he started business administration in Legon. He had a boy who looked at the shop when he went to school and because his wares were cheap, he was able to also establish himself on campus. He had a single room at Dansoman which had only a bed and TV when we met. I bought a fridge so l could cook in bulk and store it for him. I also got a microwave for him and was constantly at his place. By the time he was in 3rd year, we decided to live together so I took a loan at my workplace and added up then we rented a chamber and hall and moved in. We loved each other. I was grateful I was building a life with someone and even though my mum didn't approve of most of the things I was doing for him, she eventually had to accept it. My mum sold foodstuff in Accra. It was on one of my visits to her place I met him. Anytime my mum's goods came, she'd call me and give me a good quantity of food for him and myself. We literally lived like a couple. I took seed once and we both agreed we weren't available both emotionally and financially for a child so I terminated it. By God's grace, I got employed at another good school that had better pay I also taught some pupils for extra classes so l was earning more than my previous school. I then also started saving all over again to continue my schooling. Then my man finally graduated and in his department, he was one of the 4 students who had a first class. I was so proud I bought his suit and shoes for graduation. The suit was 800 cedis and the shoes were 450. 1 was happy. After school, he was recommended to Zenith Bank by his professor to do his national service. After his service, he got a 6 months contract to work there.

Eventually, he sold his shop to his boy but still ran the business on social media because he still knew his suppliers. He branded it well on social media for which I sometimes did delivery on his behalf. We decided to get married in 2022. 1 had successfully bought my forms by then and was about to go to school and then one day, I pounced on something my man was seeing someone while he was doing his service and they had started dating. According to the
message I read, he had denied me and had also promised the lady marriage I read the message countlessly and confronted him. He confessed and eventually told me the lady was pregnant for him. He said he was still going to get married to me like I wanted. I just knew the marriage to me was going to be something like a "thank you" or compensation. I cried. I cried my heart and intestines out. I didn't know how to tell my mum or even who to tell. He begged me but I knew I wasn't going to be the same again after the revelation. When I finally went to school, I decided to end it with him. He begged me but I knew I wasn't going to be the same again after the revelation. When I finally went to school, I decided to end it with him. I sent a text telling him I wanted to move on. He didn't beg me to stay. He just thanked me for all the support I gave him. Then he sent me 10,000 I cried the whole day and when I felt I was losing my mind, I called my mum and told her everything. She told me to return his money which I did. He moved from the apartment we lived in but paid an additional 3 years for me. I told the landlord to rent the house and take 30% of the money and give me the 70 because I couldn't live in that room. I took the money and gave it to my mum. He got married last year and he has a son. I'm still here picking up the pieces of my life and trying to move forward but it is well.

Soon, I'd complete school and I'm hoping to be posted to a good school. Life still has to be lived.
Life happens. Take care of you first before another.

  • Causes and Symptoms of Foodborne Illness.

Foodborne illness is caused by consuming contaminated foods or beverages. Many different disease-causing microbes or pathogens can contaminate foods, so there are many different types of foodborne illnesses.

Most foodborne diseases are infections caused by a variety of bacteria, viruses, and parasites. Other diseases are poisonings caused by harmful toxins or chemicals that have contaminated food.

Of note many foodborne pathogens also can be acquired through recreational or drinking water, from contact with animals or their environment, or through person-to-person spread.

    SYMPTOMS OF FOODBORNE ILLNESS

•Common symptoms of foodborne illness are diarrhea and/or vomiting, typically lasting 1 to 7 days. Other symptoms might include abdominal cramps, nausea, fever, joint/back aches, and fatigue.

•What some people call the “stomach flu” may actually be a foodborne illness caused by a pathogen (i.e., virus, bacteria, or parasite) in contaminated food or drink.

•The incubation period (the time between exposure to the pathogen and onset of symptoms) can range from several hours to 1 week.

    CAUSES OF FOODBORNE ILLNESSES

    Commonly recognized foodborne infections are:

    1)Campylobacteriosis (Campylobacter)

    2)Cryptosporidiosis (Cryptosporidium)

    3)Cyclosporiasis (Cyclospora spp.)

    4)Escherichia coli O157:H7 Infection (E. coli O157)
    and Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS)

    5)Giardiasis (Giardia)

    6)Listeriosis (Listeria monocytogenes)

7)Norovirus Infection (aka Norwalk virus, calicivirus, viral gastroenteritis)

    8)Salmonellosis (Salmonella)

    9)Scombroid Fish Poisoning

    10)Shigellosis (Shigella)

    11)Toxoplasmosis (Toxoplasma gondii)

    12)Vibrio Infection (Vibrio parahaemolyticus)

    13)Yersiniosis (Yersinia species)

    FOODS ASSOCIATED WITH FOODBORNE ILLNESS

1)Raw foods of animal origin, that is, raw meat and poultry, raw eggs, unpasteurized milk, and raw shellfish are the most likely to be contaminated.

2)Fruits and vegetables can also be contaminated with animal waste when manure is used to fertilize produce in the field, or unclean water is used for washing the produce.

3)Raw sprouts are particularly concerning because the conditions under which they are sprouted are ideal for growing microbes.

4)Unpasteurized fruit juices or cider can also be contaminated if there are pathogens on the fruit that is used to make it.

5)Any food item that is touched by a person who is ill with vomiting or diarrhea, or who has recently had such an illness, can become contaminated. When these food items are not subsequently cooked (e.g., salads, cut fruit) they can pass the illness to other people.

  • Wheat.

Wheat is a grass widely cultivated for its seed, a cereal grain that is a staple food around the world. The many species of wheat together make up the genus Triticum (/หˆtrษชtษชkษ™m/);[3] the most widely grown is common wheat (T. aestivum). The archaeological record suggests that wheat was first cultivated in the regions of the Fertile Crescent around 9600 BC. Botanically, the wheat kernel is a caryopsis, a type of fruit.

Wheat is grown on a larger area of land than any other food crop (220.7 million hectares or 545 million acres in 2021). World trade in wheat is greater than for all other crops combined. In 2021, world wheat production was 771 million tonnes (850 million short tons), making it the second most-produced cereal after maize (known as corn in North America and Australia; wheat is often called corn in countries including Britain).[4] Since 1960, world production of wheat and other grain crops has tripled and is expected to grow further through the middle of the 21st century. Global demand for wheat is increasing because of the usefulness of gluten to the food industry.

Wheat is an important source of carbohydrates. Globally, it is the leading source of vegetable proteins in human food, having a protein content of about 13%, which is relatively high compared to other major cereals but relatively low in protein quality (supplying essential amino acids). When eaten as the whole grain, wheat is a source of multiple nutrients and dietary fiber. In a small part of the general population, gluten – which comprises most of the protein in wheat – can trigger coeliac disease, noncoeliac gluten sensitivity, gluten ataxia, and dermatitis herpetiformis.

  • In a world overflowing with health advice, myths about food, particularly fats are common. Many people trying to improve their heart health or manage their weight are told to cut out fat entirely, but this advice can be harmful. Scrolling through my Instagram feed one lazy Sunday, I stumbled upon a post by Dr. Monisola Adanijo, a respected cardiologist known for her straightforward health advice. Her topic caught my attention immediately: “Myths and Facts, Weight Loss Edition.” I couldn’t help but click through. As someone who often sees people making drastic dietary choices in the name of health like ditching fats entirely, I was curious. Wasn’t cutting out fats a good way to lose weight, avoid heart problems, and “eat clean”? The answer, it turns out, is more complicated.

  • A lady goes into a store to buy some cat food. The cashier says, “I’m very sorry, ma’am, but we need proof that you actually have a cat. Some people nowadays will buy cat food to eat.” The lady finds this odd, but goes home, brings her cat back and is able to buy the cat food.
The next day, the same lady goes to the store to buy some dog food. The cashier says, “I’m very sorry, ma’am, but we need proof that you actually have a dog. Some people nowadays will buy dog food to eat.” The lady feels slightly annoyed, but goes home, brings her dog back and is able to buy the dog food.
The next day, the same lady goes to the store to buy some baby food. The cashier says, “I’m very sorry, ma’am, but we need proof that you actually have a baby. Some people nowadays will buy baby food to eat.” By now the lady is feeling well and truly irritated, but goes home, brings her baby back and is able to buy the baby food.
The next day, the lady goes to the store and approaches the cashier, holding a small box with a hole in the front. “Please put your finger in here.” she says. The cashier gives her an odd look and says, “Absolutely not, you might be hiding a spider in there.” The lady replies, “Please don’t worry, I’m not.”
The cashier is still skeptical. “Are you hiding a rat?”
    “No.”
    “A snake?”
    “No.”
    “Well….All right.”
The cashier puts her finger in the box and touches something soft and squishy; she pulls her finger out, smells it and says, “This smells like poop!”
“Exactly,” the lady replies. “Now can I buy some toilet paper?”
    please follow up
