  • GOV ENO CONDOLES EKUKINAM BASSEY’S FAMILY OVER DEMISE OF PATRIARCH

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has commiserated with the wife and entire family of the Late Apostle Uduak Ekukinam Bassey, a renowned clergy, an Apostle of the Holy Ghost Grace Redemption Mission (HOGAREM), who died at the age of 91.

In his funeral oration at the Methodist Primary School, Afaha Ikot Ebak, Essien Udim, Governor Eno described the deceased as a man who was mightily used by God to expand His kingdom.

He noted that the late Apostle preached the gospel of redemption, salvation, and kindness, and won many souls to Christ.

“The Late Apostle ( Engr.) Uduak Ekukinam Bassey was a man whom God used mightily to expand the works in His vineyard. He preached the gospel of redemption, salvation and kindness and won many souls to Christ.

“He did not only wear the garment of kindness and altruism, he showed in practical and concrete terms his deep concerns for people especially the poor and the infirm,” he said.

The Governor who, despite his inner pains, and numerous engaging activities marking the home going ceremonies of the State First Lady, shelved them to identify with the family, said it was specifically to condole with Prof Thelma Uduak Ekukinam who, according to him, has made laudable contributions to humanity, especially in the South South region of Nigeria.

He further acknowledged Apostle Bassey's accomplishments as an engineer and his ability to balance his corporate and spiritual responsibilities.

He urged the family to take solace in the life he led and to rededicate themselves to upholding the ideals he held dear.

“As he goes home to be with the Lord today, I urge the family to take solace in the life he led and rededicate yourselves to upholding the ideals he he held dear during his life with us," he said.

In his homily at the funeral, Senior Pastor of Believers Assembly (Evangelical) Nigeria, Prelate (Prof) Isaiah Isong, said the deceased died as a saint, and that the death of the righteous, as written in the Bible book of Numbers 23:10, has a rewarding end.

He, therefore, urged Christians to repent and follow Jesus Christ.

The funeral which was conducted by Holy Ghost Apostolic Redemption Mission, Afaha Ikot Ese Headquarters, Essien Udim Local Government Area, had in attendance the Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Douye Diri; Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor, Sen. (Dr.) Akon Eyakenyi; Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; Executive Assistant to the Governor, Mr. Aniefiok Johnson; Head of Civil Service, Mr Effiong Essien, Senator Effiong Bob, Senator Emmanuel Ibokessien, Obong Afangideh, among others.
