CSR: GOV ENO APPLAUDS AMITEC OVER 10 WATER PROJECTS IN ORUK ANAM, 50,000 EXERCISE BOOKS

…calls on other contractors, companies to emulate same

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has commended Amitec Construction and Development limited for initiating a corporate Social responsibility project mainly targeted at rural development, youth empowerment and educational advancement.

The Governor made the commendations on Saturday, while inaugurating the 23km Ikot Ekaide- Ikot Okoro- Ikot Ibritam road handled by the construction giants.

“Let me thank the MD of Amitec for taking the lead in sponsoring 5 Trainees to the Dakkada skills acquisition center and donating 10 water projects to communities in Oruk Anam as well as 50,000 copies of branded exercise books to the ministry of education.

“Earlier today, I was at DASAC for the convocation of pioneer Trainees of that institution where I called on contractors to support by sponsoring trainees for the next batch. I am very happy that our brother in Amitec has taken the lead.

“This of the kind of thing we want to see. So, I am calling on other contractors to also sponsor students to the skills training institute. When they finish, you give them starter-packs to start up something on their own” Gov Eno Stressed.

He however, directed the commissioner for education to ensure that 25,000 copies of those exercise books are distributed to schools in Oruk Anam while the other 25,000 can be shared to other schools across the state.

Speaking on the road project, Pastor Eno who was also full of praises to Amitec for quality delivery, expressed satisfaction that a project inherited from his predecessor at 50 percent has been completed. He promised to complete all other economically- viable inherited projects across the state while directing that solar street lights be fixed on the whole stretch of the 23km road.

Speaking earlier, the Managing Director of Amitec, Chief Aiman Saimua who was grateful to Governor Eno for his developmental strides and passion for rural development, said the company’s donation was simply to complement the Government’s visible effort in making life better for the citizens. His speech reads in parts:

“I feel honoured to have been chosen to handle this transformative project which represents a testimony that government in Akwa Ibom State is a continuum.

“The entire stretch of this road traverses 15 villages, out of which 10 of those villages belong to the 12.5km that was handled by Amitec.

“Therefore, to complement the developmental strides of the state government, we will donate 10 water projects for the 10 villages within our section, donate 50,000 copies of branded exercise books to the education ministry and also sponsor initially, 5 persons to DASAC.

Six Leadership Principles that we can learn from an Eagle

1. Eagles fly Alone and at High Altitudes.
They don't fly with sparrows, ravens, and other small birds.

MEANING; Stay away from narrow-minded people, those that bring you down. Eagle flies with Eagles. Keep good company.

This gives the eagle an opportunity to glide and rest its wings. In the meantime, all the other birds hide in the branches and leaves of the tree.

MEANING; Face your challenges head on knowing that these will make you emerge stronger and better than you were. We can use the storms of life to rise to greater heights. Achievers are not afraid to rise to greater heights. Achievers are not afraid of challenges, rather they relish them and use them profitably.

5. Eagles Prepare for Training;
They remove the feathers and soft grass in the nest so that the young ones get uncomfortable in preparation for flying and eventually flies/ when it becomes unbearable to stay in the nest./

MEANING; Leave your Comfort Zone, there is No Growth there.

6. When the Eagle Grows Old,
His feathers becomes weak and cannot take him as fast and as high as it should. This makes him weak and could make him die. So he retires to a place far away in the mountains. While there, he plucks out the weak feathers on his body and breaks its beaks and claws against the rocks until he is completely bare; a very bloody and painful process. Then he stays in this hiding place until he has grown new feathers, new beaks and claws and then he comes out flying higher than before.

MEANING; We occasionally need to shed off old habit no matter how difficult, things that burden us or add no value to our lives should be let go of.

There’s this dispatch rider I always use because I like sticking to vendors once they deliver good service.

Since he delivered my birthday cake from a client, he became my go-to for all my deliveries.

Now, me, I’m a foodie. The kind that sees something fine online and orders without thinking twice. If I like it, I buy it. Simple. So, I order food a lot.

I was silent, hoping I misheard. But nope, he continued.

“Aunty see eh, I get feelings for you. I no mind your age—I know say you senior me, but age na number. I go fit handle you well.”

My silence didn’t discourage him.

You sabi cook, but why you deh always order food? Na red flag for men o! But no worry, me I no mind, because I know say you sabi cook. And once we start dating, you no go buy food online again. I go make sure say na only your food I deh chop.”

My mind was far I was wondering what I did and which diety did offended for this thing to be happening to me

“See, no mind my work o. For you eh, I go stop this work, find better job so I fit deh take care of you. Just say yes.”

I still said nothing.

“Hello, baby? Baby, are you there?”

Acha…Achalugo, I am going to marry you....

I ended the call and blocked him.

That’s how he missed the opportunity I was calling to give him because of yansh.
