• A TALE OF SECOND CHANCES (p.3)

Diana came in last, young and beautiful as a rose. She was an epitome of beauty. Many believed Ted married her for that reason, because she was like a priceless treasure that many wished to possess. She was an aspiring actress before their marriage and rose to stardom months after. She’d agreed to marry him for the purpose of fame and had engaged in countless amorous relationships while Ted traveled the world building his empire.

A few months to his thirty-fifth birthday, a letter reached MaryAnn, who now lived in a mansion in the city and was immensely successful, having opened many branches of Annie’s Fruity Mix all around the country. It was a letter from Ted. It read thus:

    "Dearest Red Rose,

I hope you’re doing well! I am happy to see how far you’ve come since I last saw you. I’m sorry things had to be this way. I have many regrets even now. I hope Roselyne doesn’t hate me. I hope you let her get the gifts I send?

I fear I may not see my thirty-fifth birthday. I have been diagnosed with a heart disease and I am deteriorating rapidly. The doctors say I have a short time to live.

I’d very much love to see you again. Enclosed herein is the hospital where I am. Please come, and bring Roselyne along.

    Your loving husband,
    Teddy โค”

All the anger she’d felt faded at once, and she called her personal assistant to clear her schedule for the next day so she could visit her husband. Things didn’t go as planned because the lady Estella would not let them come into Ted’s chambers. An argument ensued between the two, and MaryAnn stood her ground until Ted’s PA walked up to her and pressed a note into her palm, extricating her from the argument.

    ... To be continued.

  • A TALE OF SECOND CHANCES (continued)

MaryAnn’s life shifted instantly from ordinary to glamorous. Her wardrobes were changed, and servants attended to her every whim. She could no longer perform simple tasks by herself because she was forbidden from doing domestic work. At first, she enjoyed it. Then she began to resent it. Too much was expected of her; she had to host and see to the preparations of endless high-society parties. She had to attend such parties with Ted or as his representative. She was always traveling and had to leave her little daughter, Roselyne, many times with nannies and governesses. And the worst part was that Ted was always never around too, traveling all over the world overseeing his numerous estates, businesses, and investments.

Their marriage soon became a shadow of itself, and MaryAnn grew bitter after countless conversations with Ted turned into heated arguments that reached no mutual conclusion. Three years after Roselyne's birth, she stopped hosting parties at her husband's request and stopped representing him in important functions. She enrolled in a prestigious university in the city and gained admission to study agriculture. She also set up a fruit-processing factory in the village and started fruit juice production on a large scale.

Seeing that he was alone despite being married, Ted succumbed to the allure of his high-standing friends and married a reigning beauty of the upper class. Her name was Estella. She was twenty-fifth in line to the throne of their country and also the Duchess of the largest town in the county. She was well-read and conversant with the times and politics. She excelled, where MaryAnn could not, and increased Ted’s influence and wealth a hundredfold. They had a son together, Julian. Three years down the line, she began having an affair with a prestigious young man since Ted was never around!

  • A TALE OF SECOND CHANCES

Once upon a time there lived a wealthy man named Ted. He had countless properties scattered across the globe and acres upon acres of fertile land for orchards, ranches, and timber farms. His wealth and fame drew women to him from far and wide. And although his marital plans had been to settle with one woman, he ended up with three wives by the time he reached his thirty-fifth year.

MaryAnn was the first, the wife of his youth, his first love. They’d been together when the world knew little of his existence. She’d stood by his side when he was nothing but a struggling, laboring farmer in a lord’s farm that offered employment to the villagers. She’d agreed to marry him in his low state despite her parents’ and friends’ warnings. Moving into their little house had been one of her happiest moments, and the honeymoon spent along the little river behind their humble home was an experience she cherished forever.

She’d been pregnant with their first child when a letter had come from the village attorney summoning Ted to the magistrate’s office. It was a turn of events that would change the course of their lives forever. The summons had been on account of a sick lord who owned a gigantic estate in their village, testifying that Ted was his son whom he’d lost and thought dead since childhood. A DNA test had been carried out, and the claim had proven true. Lord Engred, as MaryAnn came to know him, bequeathed his entire estate to Ted upon his death and absorbed him into the life of the bourgeoisie...

  • “Being Snubbed By Mike Obi Was The Saddest Moment Of My Career”– 2Baba Reveals The Story Behind His Viral Hist Song, ‘Only Me’ | #MukTV

"At a time when everyone was making sure that all hands were on deck to move the Nigerian brand into the world stage, destiny brought me into the winning stage with my brother Mikel Obi, who was also winning from the football angle.

“At that time, he was at the centre of Argument for two great clubs Manchester United and Chelsea, he was getting all the love from football lovers and I was getting all the love from musical lovers for putting Afrobeats on the world map at that time.

“We were two kings coexisting in our different worlds, doing our thing and just living.

“Somehow, I found Mikel in a shopping mall in U.K when I visited to buy things for myself and Ani, you know the superstar lifestyle.
I spotted my brother Mikel, walked up to him with open arms to embrace him because it's the first time I am crossing parts with him even if I have seen all his doings on T.V.

“To my greatest surprise, Mikel just ignored and acted like he doesn't know 2Baba.

“I was very sad and tried to understand why he treated me that way, I tried to ask if I have ever said anything wrong about him, he never apologized about it even when Linda Ikeji and some popular blogs told the world how I was ignored by Mikel.

“I went into the studio to pour out my heart in the song "ONLY ME"

"I DON'T CARE HOW LONG ABBAS STAYS THERE, HE NEVER CARED WHEN HE WAS OUT! I C#RSE THE DAY I BIRTH HIM!!!"

    ~Hushpuppi's Mother cries

"The day I gave birth to him, people celebrated and rubbed power but I never knew he would grow up to bring shame upon our family.

I sold bread alongside his father who drives taxi to send him to secondary school, we even registered him where he can learn mechanic but he chose to be a thief.

I do not wish any mother out there to have a son like Abbas because he represents shame.

People will tell me they saw him on this thing you people call "so-sho" media driving big big cars and wearing big big clothes, but look at me I still sell bread and his father still drives taxis on higher purchase.

Will you count me as somebody that had a child? No nah, he should stay there for a long time because he means nothing to us. May Allah forgive him of his sins if he returns people's money"

  • "BEFORE I DID AFRICAN QUEEN, I TOOK PERMISSION FROM ITS WRITER, BUT I WAS LATER BLACKM@.ILED FOR IT WHEN IT BECAME A HIT"

    -Innocent 2Baba Idibia

"Over the years, I have been tagged the villain of the Plantashun history, some say I followed money and betrayed my brothers in the hustle.

Others say I stole a song and made it my hit.

I have ignored it all because I am an enigma and my life revolves around peace, I try not to chase the problematic side of life, my loving wife Ani would always urge me to say something and clear my name but I gave it time.

I gave it time because time reveals all things.

We are growing grey now, our kids shouldn't see themselves and say "Hey your daddy stole my daddy's song and made fame from it". That would drop the pride in my kids so I have to clear the air.

What a lot of people do not know is that; I took permission from its writer as a professional would do.

The writer told me "haba bro, we are brothers from Idoma, I am creative with writing, I can write another. This one Na the least track wey I get self wey go blow"

He underestimated the African Queen, I went ahead to record it, energized and gave it a vibe with my voice and it went beyond Africa to the world.

It became a global hit that pulled platinum sales for my former record label Kennis Music. African Queen became a movement that reawakened the awareness in the beauty of an African woman, it became a sound of the Pan-African spirit and it brought home an Award from MTv.

As a peaceful man, I still contacted the writer to show him love from my own earnings, because as at that time, my whole doings were sponsored by Kennis so they controlled my funds.

I offered the writer โ‚ฆ2 million naira and a plot land in Otukpo Benue State but he told me he deserved more than that.

I tried to make the writer understand this thing I am offering is coming from my small savings and will do more in future as I grow bigger. The writer needed more because he felt I was global and worth more with no consideration of me under a label.

I even brought it to the attention of my King but the writer still stood his ground.

At that point, I decided to move on and let destiny play its role because it was becoming a distraction in my career.

The record label is operated like a football business, they do not just sign you to come and warm the bench but to bring home the accolades".

And I’m literarily telling women and men, it really doesn’t matter if you can’t bear children...What really matters is what you would do for the world, for the universe.

  • A man in Kano went to a foodseller. He had not eaten in 3 days. He begged the seller for food on credit.

The foodseller said no because he already gave food to too many people on credit.

The man sat down beside the foodseller’s shop as he had nowhere else to go.

The foodseller told him he’s very sorry and he would like to help but too many people in the neighbourhood have collected food on credit and his business is sinking.

The man sat there and said nothing.

As time went on, other people came into the shop to buy foodstuff and went out- they noticed the man at the door sitting there sleeping. But nobody bothered.

Until one man came later in the day and asked the foodseller: “who is the man sitting at your door?” “Why is he there?”

Then the foodseller said “oh it’s a man who says he has not eaten for 3 days and he wants to collect food on credit but I could not give him because my business is struggling from all the credit I have already given out”.

Then the other man said: “How much is the food he wants?”

The food seller said “It’s a few cups of garri, rice and beans. Everything may be 2,000 naira”.

The other man said “Alright pack everything he wants and more. I would pay for it. Let him go home to his family and eat”.

The foodseller packed all the food and went outside to tell the man with joy that someone has paid for his food.

He saw the man still sleeping.
He tapped him to wake him up, he didn’t respond. Tapped him again, nothing.

    The man had died.
He died sitting and waiting for help.

This happened just few days ago in Badawa, Kano. Some people who live in that area know this story.

The man was dead all along while people were coming in and out of the shop thinking he was sleeping.

He died hopeless. He died helpless. He died a man who his country failed.

If you know anyone in this period who is hungry around you and you can afford a little food or money to give him/her, please do.

Many people are walking the streets with an empty stomach. Lend a hand if you can.
