LOVE AT CHRISTMAS
Christmas, the season we all anticipate with great happiness, the season that makes some excited and sometimes gives some butterflies in their bellies.
Defining Christmas, I'll say Christmas is the period in which the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ takes place. Jesus Christ is the son of God and was born to save us from our sons. His birth was indeed a marvelous tough one, tough because circumstances surrounded him. He was born by a virgin named Mary in Bethlehem and was visited by wise men who offered him luxury gift. The Christmas story is a story of love Hope, and compassion. Christ loved us so much and so deemed it fit for a savior to be born to save us from our sins and that's why we celebrate this special day.
Well, according to sources, no one knows the birth date of the son of God, it was Christians who selected December 25th to be celebrating his birth and it has now been a culture to celebrate God's son on that date. The season of Christmas however involves many activities of which include: decorating Christmas trees, exchanging gifts, feasting and the Santa culture. While these are secular traditions, the season also symbolizes decorated and lighted Christmas trees which represent eternal life, lights and candles which symbolizes hope and triumph of light over darkness. This period also characterizes some vanity, feasting and so for me, Christmas is a time for family and friends to come together. The season is all about togetherness. It encourages acts of kindness and generosity to the less fortunate.
Christ's life on earth was an exemplary one. While we jubilate this period, let's not feast and forget that Christmas all about Christ not the vanity but realizing the life of Christ and living like him since we celebrate him.
Nevertheless, the season of Christmas brings joy and light to many. Let's celebrate and keep in mind that Christ is the reason for Christmas.
