  • Ilorin continued to expand southward with a lot of resistance, in the 1830s Yorubas fought the emirate which was made up of the ranks of Fulanis, Yoruba Muslims, and Hausas in the Battle of Ogbomosho, which was a decisive Ilorin emirate victory. However, Ilorin's southward expansion effectively ended in 1838 when Ibadan, an Oyo successor state decisively Defeated Ilorin in the battle of Battle of Òsogbo. The Ilorin cavalry were ineffective in the jungle to the south, and by the 1850s Ibadan had access to guns from European traders on the coast.[2] Ilorin, as a part of the Sokoto Caliphate, maintained ongoing interactions with other Yoruba states while being situated in the midst of northern and southern Nigeria. These interactions encompassed various aspects, including frequent conflicts as well as continuous exchanges in terms of commerce and culture.

  • Son K!lls his mother in Delta

The proprietress of His Majesty Group of Schools in Sapele, Delta State, Mrs Fatima Umukoro, was allegedly m8rdered by her 25-year-old son, Emmanuel Umukoro.

According to Punch, the tragic incident occurred on Saturday night, September 8, 2024.

The deceased was the wife of Rev Prince Umukoro, the resident pastor of Victory Family Assembly Int’l (VIFA) and a well-known figure in Sapele.

It was gathered that Emmanuel had been allegedly grappling with mental health issues exacerbated by suspected substance abuse.

Despite undergoing rehabilitation, his struggle with drug addiction persisted, leading to subsequent unpredicted violent outbursts.

Some of the neighbours who spoke to the publication, said the suspect hacked his mother to d£ath with an axe and set her body ablaze.

Eyewitnesses said the gate of the Umukoro residence was left open around 10 pm, which was unusual. This prompted neighbours and passersby to check on the situation

“Only to discover fire coming from inside the house with the door left open. Upon entering the house, they found the lifeless body of Mrs. Umukoro, burnt beyond recognition,” the witness said.

“We saw her son, Emmanuel Umukoro driving out of the compound around 8:30 pm at a high speed in his mother’s car

The neighbours said that the suspicious movement of the son led to his apprehension by the police along Sapele-Warri Road as he (Son) attempted to escape to an unknown destination.

The spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident on Sunday, September 9.

“The son is in police custody now but cannot say whether he’s the one that killed her until investigation is concluded.”

  • Good morning.

    Say this to yourself :

"My life is amazing. I am doing well. Everything happening now is leading me to something better. I am growing and improving. I believe in sudden blessings and miracles."

Every breath I take is a reminder that God’s hand is at work in my life. No matter the circumstances, I am anchored in the truth that everything unfolding before me is leading to something greater. With each challenge, I am being refined. With each victory, I am stepping into the fullness of who I am destined to become. I choose to see this journey with eyes of gratitude, acknowledging that even in moments of uncertainty, I am being divinely guided.

I trust that growth often comes wrapped in unexpected packages. Though I may not always see the way forward, I believe in the power of sudden blessings—those moments when God steps in, shifting the course of my life in beautiful ways. My heart is open to the miracles that await me, the kind that restore hope and remind me that I am never alone in this path.

Psalm 37:23 says, *"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way."* This verse is my assurance that each step I take is part of a divine design. God takes delight in my journey, knowing that every twist and turn is shaping me for something incredible. With this in my heart, I walk forward in faith, confident that my story is unfolding in perfect timing.
