  • Someone I know was dumped by her fiance few months to their traditional wedding.

She had wailed, begged and cried, but the guy didn't want to have anything to do with her again.

It wasn't that she was a bad person, or that she did something wrong to warrant such. Infact, Sonia loved this guy to pieces to the extent that I sometimes get mad at her for her devotion and commitment to the relationship.

For clarity, Sonia is a private school teacher, while the guy is a banker. She will just be at work and get a message from the guy to come cook for him. After work, she'll rush to the guy's house, cook and clean, and even wash his clothes before going back to her own house.

Her own 'wife materialism' was so annoying because it was obvious to all that he was taking her for a ride.

Nevertheless, the guy's older sisters and mum loved Sonia, maybe because of how she takes care of their brother. Many times, the guy had made her to turn down several offers of holiday home lessons just because he needed her to be in his house all through the holiday period.

If the guy was according her the due respect, it would have been better. But despite how the guy treated her like an option, Sonia was stuck to him like a co-joined twin.

When I got wind of their traditional wedding, I wasn't happy for her at all because I knew that she was going into a marriage of subjugation, but I still congratulated her.

I made it look as if I was happy for her because the one and only time I advised her to quit the relationship because the guy was using her, Sonia brought down the world on my head. She called me insensitive names that made me to avoid her for a long time, yet she cared less of what I thought about her.

Anyways, you can not advice people in love, I had to carry my two legs to meet and apologized to her. I wondered why she never used such energy on her yeye boyfriend.

Well, the guy met a classier lady who runs a boutique, the daughter of a Benin socialite. A kind of lady that once you see her, you'll know indeed that good money is speaking in her life, she's posh, drives an expensive car, buys gifts for the guy. Infact, she literally stole the guy from Sonia.

When Sonia got wind of their fiery romance (of course the guy has been cheating on her every eke market day, but this lady's steeze and aura was intimidating), she ran to the guy's mother who comforted her by telling her that she will talk to his son.

I guess that was a great mistake because instead of the guy listening to his mum, he used that opportunity to tell everyone present, including Sonia that he was done with the relationship.

I later got to know that the marriage thingy was all the guy's mother's idea who felt that his son should stop philandering about and settle down with Sonia. It was not really as if he had made up his mind to marry her.

Sonia almost died of heart break. She moved very far away from that location, got another teaching job, and for the first time, decided to face her reality.

All those while, I was still by her side as a friend. So when this new dude started showing interest in her, Sonia ran as if a lion was chasing her. She had learnt the hard way, and was not ready to love again. But when the guy persisted and she mentioned him to me, I asked her to give him a chance, and she reluctantly did.

This time around, she was not performing all those wifely duties to him, she just released herself to be pampered, loved and cared for, and the guy on his own part proved to be a premium Odogwu, spoiling his girl silly. With his connection, he got her a job in a media house, took her on expensive vacations to choice countries, and when he popped the question, she said yes without hesitation.

They had a classy wedding and when he had their daughter few months later, he bought her a jeep as a push gift.

One day, I jokingly told her that she must be missing her former boyfriend, and she shouted "tufiakwa!"
That God just delivered her from that guy and used her present hubby to compensate her for all her stress.

Even though I didn't fully agree with her, but she was right shaa. When the guy broke up with her, she felt that the world had come to an end without knowing that she was to be launched into a better life where she'll just sit and enjoy.

So when you are faced with some disappointing situations, just know that God could be saving you from disaster, and preparing you for a better life ahead.

    THINK ABOUT THAT!

    SHALOM!
