  • Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has laid the foundation for the construction of an Aviation Village, a residential quarters for airport workers, in his bid to further deliver on his campaign promises in line with the ARISE Agenda.

    Performing the ground- breaking ceremony of the project located within the Victor Attah International Airport, the Governor said that the Aviation Village is aimed at driving home his passion towards expanding the aviation ecosystem and making Akwa Ibom stand out as the aviation hub in the Gulf of Guinea.

    Governor Eno added that the project which will be completed in twelve months, will be given to different contractors to speed up the construction, beginning with the perimeter fence and gate house. He spoke of the landmark achievements recorded in the sector, noting that he has purchased four additional aircraft into the IbomAir fleet in addition to other development within the airport.

  • President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering dialogue, reconciliation, and healing among all ethnic groups in Nigeria.

    Tinubu made this commitment in a special message commemorating the 2024 Ogoni Martyrs Remembrance Day, conveyed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

    Reports say that Oil was first commercially discovered in Oloibiri, Ogoniland, in 1958. The subsequent struggles of Ogoni leaders to protect their environment from harmful oil exploration were met with severe repression, culminating in the tragic execution of Ken Saro-Wiwa and eight other leaders on November 10, 1995.

    The President declared that he stood in solidarity with the National Youth Council of Ogoni People and all Ogoni citizens to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defence of the Ogoni nation’s interests. He said this year’s commemoration, themed “After Price, Comes Prise,” reflected the country’s collective commitment to acknowledging the pain and the lessons of the past as Nigeria aspire for a brighter future.
