I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…. Apple+ has cracked the code on amazing Sci-Fi. 🙌🏾
The Gorge is easily my favorite watch of 2025 so far.
Keep in mind, this isn’t just a straight-up Sci-Fi flick—it’s sort of a multi-genre experience. And honestly, that’s what I loved most about it. It starts off as a badass espionage'esq action thriller, slowly evolves into a Sci-Fi mystery, and by the end, it somehow morphs into a horror survival LOVE STORY! Lol… I’m not even kidding.
If you go in blind, it’s *even better* because the buildup is beautifully done. 👌🏾
Miles Teller seems to be making a serious comeback, and it’s wild seeing him take on these roles. Top Gun: Maverick was one thing, but now The Gorge? I love it…. And honestly? He fits action films really well.
Anya Taylor-Joy, man….. I just love her on screen. Not sure what it is, but something about the roles she picks always puts her in a position to be incredibly compelling. Watching her play [Drasa] and seeing her relationship with Levi [Teller] unfold was true entertainment. Because how TF y’all fell in love in the middle of all this chaos?!*
Lol….Anyway, the monster/creature designs were cool AF—and if you know me, you know I love monster flicks over any other type of horror.👌🏾
And listen, The Gorge did not disappoint. I enjoyed the entire film, for real, but that final act had me stressed the f*ck out for Levi & Drasa, OK?!!!
Things got helly intense toward the end, but it all wrapped up beautifully. 🙌🏾
Yeah, it had some predictable moments, but it kept my interest from start to finish. The plot and execution were solid, the VFX were on point, the story was beautiful yet cheeky, and the cast absolutely NAILED IT! 👍🏾
All in all, this was a solid 9 out of 10 for me.
