  • EPL: Amorim Set to Break African Transfer Record with €100m Bid for Super Eagles Star

Manchester United are reportedly preparing a €100 million offer for Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

Lookman has become one of the most sought-after players in Europe, thanks to his impressive performances. He played a pivotal role in leading Nigeria to the 2023 AFCON final and Atalanta to the Coppa Italia final.

The Nigerian forward further boosted his reputation by scoring a remarkable hat-trick that helped Atalanta secure the UEFA Europa League title. His exceptional form earned him a 14th-place finish in the 2024 Ballon d’Or rankings.

Paris Saint-Germain were linked with Lookman during the summer, but no deal materialized. More recently, Arsenal have expressed interest in signing the 27-year-old.

However, Lookman could now be on his way to Manchester United, with manager Ruben Amorim reportedly keen to make him a marquee signing. A €100m move would not only mark a significant addition to United's squad but also make Lookman the most expensive African footballer in history.

Despite being allocated a modest transfer budget, Amorim is eager to secure key players and views Lookman as essential to his plans for success at Old Trafford.

  • FROM GRASS TO GRACE: KWASI APPIAH
After failing to qualify the Black Stars of Ghana for the 2018 World Cup, he was called a tactically bankrupt coach by popular journalist Gary Al Smith in 2017.
During the 2019 AFCON, Ghana scrapped through the group stage by winning 1 game and drawing 2 which was enough for the Black Stars to progress to the round of 16 which they eventually lost on penalties to Tunisia.
He was strongly accused of tolerating indiscipline in the team hence, the media continually called for his sack which eventually happened on the 2nd of January, 2020 bringing an end to his reign which the Black Stars under him, won 9 Games, lost 6 and drew 5 out of 20 games.
He went on a sabbatical and after 3 years, he was appointed as the new head Coach of the sudanese national team.
So far so good with the sudanese national team who are currently ranked 110th in the world and 43rd in Africa, they have played 10 games, won 6 games, 3 draws and recorded 1 loss including defeating his former employers and home country Ghana by 2 goals to nothing and also playing out a draw against them.
Ghana are now in a critical situation and risk missing out on the 2025 AFCON with Kwasi Appiah's led Sudan needing only one point out of their remaining 2 games to condemn Ghana go missing out on the 2025 AFCON.
Due to his team's wonderful performance, he has also been nominated for the Coach of the year in the CAF Awards.
From flopping with a Big footballing nation like Ghana to leading a lowly ranked team like Sudan to currently being ranked 110th in the world and 43rd in Africa, Coach Kwasi Appiah is now the new face of hope, that if you fail once does not mean it's over for you.
