He also approved the removal of Ohieku Salami as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Benue State.

The announcement was made on Wednesday through a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, titled ‘President Tinubu sacks Nnamdi Azikiwe University Council, VC, and Registrar.’

The NAU council, previously led by Greg Ozumba Mbadiwe, included members such as Hafiz Oladejo, Augustine Onyedebelu, Amioleran Osahon, and retired General Funsho Oyeneyin.

According to Onanuga, the decision to dissolve the council and remove the officials was based on reports that the council had unlawfully appointed an unqualified vice-chancellor, bypassing established procedures.

Following the controversial appointment, the Federal Government intervened

  • Iheanacho struggles while Osimhen impresses: Player Ratings from Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with Benin Republic

Mohamed Tijjani put Benin Republic in the lead in the 16th minute, capitalizing on a well-executed set piece by Gernot Rohr’s team. Although Victor Osimhen missed a clear chance in the first half, he redeemed himself in the 81st minute, rising above the defense to head home a Moses Simon cross.

It wasn’t the strongest performance from Augustine Eguavoen’s squad, but they managed to secure a point at the Stade Félix Houphouet-Boigny.
