So I borrowed 30k from my wife 6 months ago. I was able to pay 24k remaining 6k. I purposely refused to pay that 6k because I wanted to have it for myself.

Lately, my wife has been disturbing me to give her the money I borrowed. She said it's been 6 months now.

Three days ago, she said if I can't give her the money in cash, I should buy something for her with the worth of the money and give her as a gift.

I agreed to that second offer.

Today while returning from work, I was in the market and came across this gold chain one mallam was selling. I asked him how much and he told me 1000 naira. I was able to price the chain down to 500 naira.

It's a neck chain.

This evening when I got home, my wife came to welcome me. I asked her to close her eyes and I brought out the neck chain from my pocket and hung it on her neck.

My wife saw the necklace and was very happy.

"Thank you, Baby. You are so sweet. This must be very expensive."

As I heard expensive, I decided to break the news to her.

"I tell you. Very expensive. You won't even believe how much this chain cost. It is 5-karat Gold. This chain cost 14 thousand naira. I added 8k to that your 6k to get it."

My wife looked at me and removed the chain.

"So because I said it is expensive you want to deceive me. Do you think I don't know this kind of chain? I see them plenty in the market. This chain no pass 100 naira in the market. Praises don't play with me o. You are owing me 5900 now."

"Let me tell you the truth. This chain is 7k. I added 1k."

"Should we go back to the mallam? No, if we go back to the mallam and he said it cost even 2k I will give you 10k extra. If I discover you are lying you will give me 20k and still pay me my 5900. Let us go."

I was quiet.

"You owe me 5900 remaining o."

"God forbid. See this chain is 500 naira. I owe you 5500. If you think it is a lie let us go back to the mallam I bought it. 500 naira cash I paid."

"And you said 14k."
