MY MISTAKE
CHAPTER ONE
"Zinny,will you make me the happiest man on earth by becoming my wife? Dave asked me on a bended knee in my shop with a ring in his hand
"Yessss" I screamed as I quickly stretch out my hand for him to slid the ring in.
I couldn't contain my joy when he proposed.Why would I turn him down when I already fall in love with him the very day I met him and I already had a strong conviction that he's the one for me?
You see,Dave and I met in school.he was our fellowship president. We became friends almost immediately I joined the fellowship. Dave was a nice and handsome young man who truly loved God. Almost all the girls in the fellowship wanted him as a husband because of how much fire he carried.
Many had even summoned the courage to approach him claiming to be the perfect will of God for him but he always had a way of turning them down.
Our friendship continued even after our studies. Everyone in my family knew him because he always visited me in the family house.
Dave graduated two years before me. After graduation,he wasn't able to secure a good job so he opted for a teaching job to keep himself busy. I in the other hand also didn't get a job after school,I had to go into sewing.
Even though I was happy accepting Dave's proposal,I was equally scared of what my mum would say. She never liked Dave one bit because he's not financially buoyant like my younger sister's husband.
I had to remove the ring from my finger before entering the house to avoid my mum seeing it.
The next day being Sunday,I went to church and prayed so much that my mum won't get angry on hearing about the proposal. When I came back from church I decided to tell her about the proposal.
"Mum,I have something to tell you" I said to her joining her in the bench outside.She was busy selecting stones from the rice she wanted to cook.
"Eee,Oya nah,am listening." She replied without paying close attention to me.
