Waiting on the lord means devoting your time and energy to ministering to the holy spirit. You minister to the spirit by offering spiritual sacrifices giving thanks unto Lord with the fruit of your lips - your words . when you do this , you will always be full of the spirit and the joy of the lord will well up within you. As you know, a joyful and cheerful heart does good like a medicine (proverbs 17:22)..
