The Witch's Lantern
Every Halloween, a ghostly green lantern appeared at the edge of a small village forest. Legend said it belonged to Elara, a witch who, years ago, had vowed revenge on those who disturbed her rest.
One Halloween, three friends—Simon, Lily, and Max—ignored the warnings and followed the lantern into the woods. It led them to a twisted tree and an eerie stone: Elara’s grave. Suddenly, the lantern’s light went out, and a shadowy figure emerged, whispering, “You dared to follow…”
As they tried to escape, vines trapped them, and Elara’s ghost approached. Remembering an old protection charm, Lily recited it, breaking the spell and freeing them. They ran back to the village, vowing never to follow the Witch’s Lantern again.
Since that night, no one else has dared to test the witch’s warning.
