Episode 9: THE SPIRIT AND THE BRIDE
After meeting with his friend, Gabriel was advised to calm down. "Bro, you need to relax. She's all yours, I know say your blood they hot," his friend teased, giving him some remedies to help.
They chatted a bit more before Gabriel left, feeling grateful for the advice.
That evening, Gabriel sat in the parlor watching a football match around 7 p.m., while Salma stayed in the bedroom.
After a while, Gabriel felt the urge to check on her, wondering why she hadn’t joined him.
As he approached the bedroom, he overheard Salma talking. Curious, he paused to listen. "This is too early, please no," he heard her say.
Concerned, Gabriel opened the door to find her on the bed, speaking to... no one. Her body was moving as if she was interacting with someone unseen.
He rushed to her, gently shaking her awake. "Salma, what’s wrong?"
Startled, Salma sat up quickly. "It’s nothing," she said, "I was just dreaming... about you."
Gabriel wasn’t convinced but let it go. "Alright," he said, "You can rest, or we can watch the match together."
But Salma insisted, "No, let’s go watch the match." They both headed to the parlor.
Salma’s thoughts raced. I can't go on like this. If Gabriel finds out, my marriage is over.
I love him so much, and everyone admires us. This marriage has only been a week...
Salma resolved that Gabriel would never find out. She had to find a way to balance things.
Meanwhile, Gabriel’s eyes were on the game, but his mind was far from it. Is Salma... normal? He couldn't shake the unsettling feeling.
Later that night
As they lay in bed, Gabriel found himself unable to sleep.
Around midnight, he noticed Salma beginning to move. She whispered softly, though he couldn’t make out her words.
Then, to his horror, he heard her start to moan, her body shifting as if someone else was there.
He turned to her in utter shock, his heart pounding. This is beyond strange, he thought. She's tied to a spirit man.
‘She has to leave my house by morning,’ Gabriel whispered fiercely to himself, his voice laced with fear and anger. ‘I won’t live with a witch.’”
Without hesitation, Gabriel decided to call Salma’s mother. He tapped her and said, "What’s all this?"
Salma woke up, trying to regain her composure, but she could feel the dampness, proof that something had just happened.
It dawned on her that Gabriel had been awake the entire time and had seen everything.
Feeling confused and exposed, she attempted to play it off, pretending not to understand.
"All what?” she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
"Never mind," Gabriel muttered, leaving the room to make the call.
Salma followed, pleading, "Babe, I’m sorry. I don’t know what came over me."
Ignoring her, Gabriel dialed Salma’s mother. The moment she answered, she asked with concern, "Is everything okay? You wouldn't call at this hour unless it was urgent."
Gabriel, frustrated, snapped, "Your daughter is possessed! She has a spirit husband. I’m sending her back tomorrow morning."
Salma's mother, shocked, responded, "What? My daughter, Salma? That’s not possible!"
There was a heavy silence on both ends of the call before Gabriel hung up.
Salma, in tears, continued to beg, "Please, don't send me away!"
