Three things will give you status in your family and society. Age, wisdom and money. The first you do not control. But the others are entirely at your discretion. Age affects how people greet you. Money influences how they treat you. But it is wisdom that sets the standard of how they rate you. Take Aliko Dangote and Wole Soyinka as examples. One has money and is respected wherever he goes. The other is known for wisdom and is revered everywhere he finds himself. Therefore, acquire wisdom and money if you desire respect and honour. But among civilised people, wisdom will take you higher than money. However, note that not every culture is civilised.
