Drying Orange Slices with Hybrid Solar Tunnel – A Breakthrough in Food Preservation

On January 10, 2025, a successful demonstration of drying orange slices using the Hybrid Solar Tunnel was conducted at the Food Technology Lab, under the expert guidance of Dr. Shahzada Arshad Saleem Saddozai, a renowned Food Technologist.

Initially developed for ripening and drying dates, this innovative technology has been replicated at 47 locations in Paniaylia, Pharapur, and Dhakki, demonstrating its versatility and effectiveness.

The Food Technology Lab has successfully expanded its application to dry a variety of fruits and vegetables, including:

- Orange slices
- Figs, apricots, and mango slices
- Lemons
- Spinach, mint leaves, and coriander
- Cauliflower
- Tomatoes
- Bitter gourd

This eco-friendly, efficient, and affordable technology is transforming food preservation, reducing waste, and providing farmers with a sustainable solution to process their produce.
