It is a pity if we do not hear God's voice we are serving but that of a marine wife or husband , demon, idol, etc. Some people have the false notion that God spoke to His children only in the olden days, and not this era. God still speaks, for He is the God of yesterday, today and forever. When you are righteous, He speaks in a gentle, calm, sweet and smooth voice.Through our ears, hearts, visions, dreams, revelation etc, He addresses us. But if you are a sinner, He thunders.
