Dark Light
In a village abandoned for decades, there was a tale of the "Dark Light" that haunted its ruins. It was said to be a soft, eerie glow that appeared deep within the forest on moonless nights, casting shadows that twisted and writhed like they were alive.
One stormy night, a young man named Femi, curious and brave, ventured into the forest to find this mysterious light. As he walked, the only sound was the crunch of leaves underfoot and the distant howl of the wind. After hours of wandering, he finally saw it—a faint glow in the distance. But as he approached, he felt an unnatural chill creep up his spine.
The light grew stronger, revealing twisted, leafless trees that seemed to bend toward him, their branches like grasping fingers. Suddenly, he noticed shadows forming on the ground, even though there was nothing casting them. They flickered and twitched, inching closer, with unnatural shapes—elongated limbs, hollow eyes, and wide, gaping mouths.
Panicked, Femi turned to run, but the shadows moved with him, whispering in voices that scratched at his ears, “Stay… Stay…” He stumbled and fell, his flashlight dying as the dark light intensified, swallowing his vision. A deep, hollow voice echoed from behind, “You looked for the light… Now, you are the darkness.”
The next morning, villagers found only his flashlight on the forest floor, flickering weakly. The Dark Light still waits, drawing curious souls into the shadows, where they are lost forever.
