  • Manchester United have appointed Ruben Amorim as their new head coach.

    The 39-year-old Portuguese, who will move to Old Trafford from Lisbon club Sporting on 11 November, has signed a contract until June 2027, with the option of a further year.

    He will take charge of his first United match at Ipswich on November 24.

    Amorim replaces Erik ten Hag who was sacked last month while Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue to take charge of the first team until Amorim joins.

  • Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have won this year’s WAFU Zone B championship after defeating Ghana 2-1 in the final on Wednesday.
    This means the Flying Eagles have retained the WAFU Zone B title which they won in 2022.
    A brace from Kparobo Arierhi was enough to earn coach Aliyu Suberu’s men the trophy.
    Arierhi opened the scoring in the 33rd minute before getting on the score sheet again to double the lead.
    Ghana pulled a goal back in the 74th minute but the Flying Eagles held on to emerge champions.
