Disregard Falsehoods Being Peddled by Tigran Gambaryan against Nigerian Government Officials – FG

The Federal Government of Nigeria notes with concern the outrageous allegations, misinformation, and defamatory statements being disseminated by Tigran Gambaryan, an American personnel of Binance who was recently tried in Nigeria for financial crimes.

While the Federal Government of Nigeria is reluctant to engage Mr. Gambaryan, due to the high-level diplomatic intervention that resolved his case, we are compelled to set the record straight to prevent his falsehoods from gaining traction.

The first visit of Mr. Gambaryan and his colleagues to Nigeria was at their own discretion, and the Government was not officially involved. However, when the Government's attention was drawn to an alleged bribery demand during that trip, an investigation was immediately launched, despite there being no formal complaint from anyone.

Mr. Gambaryan's second visit to Nigeria was part of a wider probe into the criminal manipulation of the Nigerian currency through peer-to-peer platforms like Binance, but investigators were frustrated by the tactics deployed by Gambaryan and his team.

Mr. Gambaryan was released by the Nigerian government in October 2024 on humanitarian grounds and following a high-level diplomatic intervention that ended with tangible benefits for Nigeria. The government rejected Binance's offer of a $5 million down payment in exchange for Mr. Gambaryan's freedom, in favour of a more beneficial settlement with the American government.

We categorically deny the retaliatory claims made by Mr. Gambaryan against Nigerian officials involved in his case, and we urge the public to disregard these false accusations in their entirety.

It is essential to note that Mr. Gambaryan's allegations are not only unsubstantiated but also lack credibility, given his apparent motive to discredit and intimidate those who ensured he faced justice.

However, we are confident that both the Nigerian and American judicial systems will provide Mr. Gambaryan with a fair opportunity to substantiate his claims in court. Until then, we advise the public to exercise caution and not be swayed by Mr. Gambaryan's unfounded and malicious claims.

    Mohammed Idris

Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation.

  • FCT CONTROLLER OF CORRECTIONS ASSURES IMPROVED CAPACITY BUILDING FOR PERSONNEL AND INMATES.

The Controller of Corrections FCT Command, Olatubosun Ajibogun FCSS, fsi, has assured officers and men of the Command of improved capacity building for them and also for inmates so as to enable them discharge their duties effectively and efficiently.

The FCT Corrections boss made this statement during the quarterly inspection of Custodial Centres as well as correctional formations in the command.
The tour was aimed at familiarizing with personnel and also to ensure operational excellence in all correctional facilities in the command in line with international best practices, which is the core of the policy thrust of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) under the superintendence of the Acting Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, MFR, mni.

In his address, the FCT Controller commended the officers for maintaining peace and order, as well as good hygiene and sanitation in the custodial centres. He affirmed his resolve in ensuring intensive capacity building for both staff and inmates through regular trainings, education, and vocational skill acquisition programmes, which will be achieved in partnership with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and other stakeholders.

In furtherance, the Controller also tasked superintendents-in-charge of the various formations to ensure that every inmate engages in a vocational or educational programme in order to empower them with skills which will make them useful and employable after imprisonment, while assuring them of facilitating their certification at the end of such programmes.

The FCT Corrections boss went further to call on officers to shun all forms of indiscipline such as absenteeism, trafficking, laxity and negligence to duty amongst others, as anyone caught in such acts will be sanctioned according to extant rules. He pledged to operate an open door policy and also work with all stakeholders in the command towards achieving the Service’s statutory mandates.

In same vein, the FCT Controller visited traditional leaders of communities hosting correctional formations in the command as well as heads of sister security agencies in such communities, where he appreciated them for their cooperation in maintaining security in the Custodial Centres and environs. He used the medium to solicit for continuous cooperation, synergy and partnership in ensuring water-tight security in and around correctional facilities.

Among the Custodial Centres and formations inspected by the Controller were; Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kuje; MSCC, Suleja; and the Custodial Model Farm Centre, Dukpa. Others include; the 3,000-capacity Maximum Security Custodial Centre, Karshi; the Soap Cottage Industry, Kuje; Canine unit; as well as the Poultry Farm, Kuje.

  • GARLIC PLANTING AND EXPORTATION

Starting garlic farming and exporting it can be a profitable venture!

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get started:

    How to Start Garlic Farming

    1. Choose the Right Location: Garlic thrives in well-draining soil with plenty of sunlight. Find a spot that gets 6-8 hours of sunlight daily.
    2. Prepare the Soil: Loosen the soil and mix in organic matter to improve fertility.
    3. Select Quality Seed Cloves: Choose large, healthy cloves from a reputable source.
    4. Planting: Plant cloves about 2 inches deep, with the pointed end up, in rows spaced about 6-8 inches apart.
    5. Mulching: Apply mulch to conserve moisture and suppress weeds.
    6. Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged.
    7. Weeding: Regularly remove weeds to reduce competition for nutrients.
    8. Harvesting: Harvest when the lower leaves turn yellow and start to dry, usually around 8-9 months after planting.
    9. Curing: Hang the harvested garlic in a well-ventilated area for 2-3 weeks to dry.

    How to Export Garlic

    1. Market Research: Identify potential markets and understand demand.
    2. Quality Control: Ensure your garlic meets export standards for size, firmness, and quality.
    3. Packaging: Use breathable packaging materials like mesh bags or cardboard boxes.
    4. Documentation: Prepare necessary export documents, including certificates of origin and phytosanitary certificates.
    5. Logistics: Arrange for transportation and ensure garlic is kept in ideal conditions.
    6. Customs Clearance: Work with a customs broker to handle export customs declaration.
    7. Shipping: Coordinate with logistics providers to transport the garlic to the destination.
    8. Payment: Ensure all financial transactions are handled according to the terms agreed with buyers.

Starting garlic farming and exporting it requires careful planning and attention to detail, but it can be a rewarding business.

  • GOV ENO ASSURES EQUITABLE DISBURSEMENT OF BUSINESS GRANT TO WIDOWS OF FALLEN HEROES

In further demonstration of deep concern for the welfare of widows of Nigeria's fallen heroes, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has outlined modalities of ensuring equitable administration and disbursement of the N250 million business grant he awarded them to mark the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

The Governor spelled out the disbursement criteria while speaking during the January edition of the Akwa Ibom State Government House Monthly Prayer Service, held at the Later House Chapel, Governor's Lodge, Uyo, Saturday, January 18, 2025, where he also outlined modalities for the proposed town hall meetings across the 10 Federal Constituencies of the State.

Describing the circumstances of his life as the mould that has shaped his governance disposition, Governor Eno urged Akwa Ibom people to thank God for the new year and expect the multiplied grace of God in the new season.

He stressed that his administration is committed to discontinuing the trend of release of government financial support to vulnerable citizens without commensurate socioeconomic effect on the targeted beneficiaries.

The Governor therefore directed the Ministries of Women Affairs and that of Humanitarian Affairs to commence the compilation of data of the widows of service men, to ensure a judicious disbursement process, and utilisation of the fund, towards ensuring optimal attainment of its purpose.

On the planned town hall meeting and empowerment in all the Federal Constituencies in the first quarter of 2025, Governor Eno tasked leaders and stakeholders of each Federal Constituency to, prior to the meetings, come up with a unified presentation that will represent the position and needs of their constituencies.

He further said that only those whose businesses are located within a local government area will be qualified for the special LGA - focused business grants.

Pastor Eno also called on pastors to continually pray for the good of the State and the government, and eschew tendencies that could dent the body of Christ.

The General Overseer of Christian Fellowship Evangelical Church, Reverend Emem Jacob, delivering a homily on the theme, "Dimensions of Grace," culled from 2 Peter 1:2, charged Christians to, while manifesting the various dimensions of God's grace, deliberately ensure that the grace does not end with them, but make a mark on their environments and generations after them.
