  • Conquering Procrastination: Unlocking Your Full Productive Potential

Yesterday we talked about procrastination and we also established a fact that it's a dream killer.

let's look at how we can overcome procrastination as individuals.

Procrastination is a challenge that affects even the most disciplined individuals.

While delaying tasks may offer temporary relief, it often leads to stress, missed opportunities, and reduced efficiency.

Here’s how to conquer procrastination and build a more productive mindset:

    1️⃣ Identify the Cause
Procrastination often stems from fear of failure, perfectionism, or feeling overwhelmed. Recognizing why you delay tasks is the first step in addressing the issue.

2️⃣ Break Tasks into Smaller Steps
Large tasks can feel daunting, leading to avoidance. Break them into smaller, manageable steps and tackle them one at a time. Completing small milestones creates momentum and builds confidence.

    3️⃣ Set Clear Deadlines
Without a deadline, tasks tend to get pushed indefinitely. Assign specific time frames to your work and hold yourself accountable to these deadlines.

    4️⃣ Use the Two-Minute Rule
If a task takes less than two minutes to complete, do it immediately. For larger tasks, commit to working on them for just two minutes. Often, starting is the hardest part—once you begin, you’re likely to keep going.

    5️⃣ Eliminate Distractions
Create a focused work environment by turning off notifications, setting boundaries, and using productivity tools. A clutter-free space helps maintain concentration.

    6️⃣. Reward Progress
Celebrate small achievements to stay motivated. Whether it’s a short break, a favorite snack, or time for a hobby, rewards reinforce positive habits.

    7️⃣. Develop a Routine
Consistency builds discipline. Establish a daily schedule that includes dedicated time for work, breaks, and relaxation to create a balanced, productive routine.

Overcoming procrastination is not about achieving perfection but making steady progress. Start small, stay consistent, and watch your productivity grow!

What strategies help you stay on track? Share your thoughts below!

  • You invited me to an event and added me to your WhatsApp committee group.

Despite my limited resources, I made a contribution.

On the day of the event, I spent a significant amount on transportation, due to the hike in transportation fees.

I arrived early to secure a front-row seat because I wanted to ensure you noticed my attendance and registered it in your memory.

Everything was going pretty well until it got to the part of refreshments.

I was excited because I knew I would be served first, since I was seated in the front row.

But the caterer thought it wise to start serving drinks from the back, and by the time they got to me, the drinks were finished, leaving me with no choice but to settle for sachet water.

A few minutes later, a cooler of rice was brought to our canopy, and I already knew their sharing technique, so I had anticipated it.

Swiftly, I changed seats and stylishly relocated to the back row.

But what did the caterer do this time? They started from the front row and began sharing the food.

Before they got to my seat, the food was finished, and once again, I was left with just a toothpick.

And now, here you are standing beside me, asking me to smile while posing for the camera.

    If I smile make bend.

  • Borno Govt Reaffirms Support for Correctional Services as New State Controller Assumes Office

The newly appointed 22nd Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) in Borno State, Ibrahim Bawa, has pledged closer collaboration with the Borno State Government to strengthen correctional reforms and security efforts.

Bawa, who was formerly in charge of the Bauchi Custodial Centre, made the commitment during a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman Tar, at the Musa Usman Secretariat, Maiduguri.

Accompanied by key officials including Squadron Officer CSP Shettima Limanti, Staff Officer Umoru Jauro, and Public Relations Officer Bala A. Tisa Bawa expressed appreciation for the state government's continued support, particularly during the September 2024 Maiduguri flood disaster when relief materials were provided to inmates.

"I am here on a familiarization visit and to appreciate the unwavering support of the Borno State Government, especially during the recent flood disaster, where essential relief materials were conveyed to the inmates, as confirmed by my predecessor," Bawa stated.

Responding on behalf of the state government, Prof. Tar welcomed the new Controller, assuring him of the administration’s sustained partnership with security agencies.

"We are pleased that a son of the soil, who understands the terrain, has assumed this crucial role. The Nigerian Correctional Service is integral to the criminal justice system, and as the focus shifts from mere incarceration to correctional rehabilitation, our support remains critical," he said.

The commissioner further reaffirmed the government's commitment to enhancing the justice system, highlighting recent interventions such as the passage of the Criminal Justice Act and housing allocations for correctional service personnel.

"We will continue to work closely with you, particularly in reshaping public perceptions of correctional facilities. They are not condemned communities but places of rehabilitation and reintegration, and together, we shall change that narrative," Prof. Tar added.

The event was attended by senior officials of the Ministry including the Permanent Secretary, Modu Alhaji Mustapha (FCNA) Director of Administration and Supply, Babagana Mustapha, and Director of Information, Malama Habiba. Also in attendance was the Special Adviser and Spokesperson to the Governor, Mallam Dauda Iliya.

The event was concluded with the signing of the Visitor's Register and a group photograph.
