  • THE MATHEMATICS OF MARRIAGE
    1. One. Remember you two are one, do things together and make decisions together.

    2. Two. Your marriage is between two, husband and wife, do not allow third parties in; whether family, friends, a nosy pastor or social media.

    3. Three. Always rely on God. Let it be you, your spouse and God. A cord of three cannot be broken.

    4. Four. Remember it is always about the four letter word: Love. If anything you do is not motivated or centered on love, don't do it. Say "I love you" to each other often.

    5. Five. Use your five senses to love. See your spouse's wonder, taste your spouse's sweetness, touch your spouse with affection, smell your spouse's scent, listen to your spouse.

    6. Six. Wake up early in the morning before 6am to pray together as a couple. Start the day right.

    7. Seven. Be good to each other seven days a week. Not just when sex is involved or when it's time to go to Church.

    8. Eight. Drink eight glasses of water every day. That means take good care of your health, eat right, avoid lifestyle diseases so that you live longer to enjoy your family.

    9. Nine. Grow in the nine part fruit of the Holy Spirit: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self control. With this fruit, you will be the best husband/wife.

    10. Ten. At 10 pm, let the kids go to sleep so that you two can have your quality time as husband and wife. That means you need to come home on time.

  • At 3 o’clock in the morning, a man and his wife were jolted awake by a loud, persistent pounding on their front door. Groaning, the man reluctantly got up and went to see who it was. Standing in the pouring rain was a drunken stranger, swaying unsteadily.

"Could you give me a push?" the man slurred, water dripping off his soaked clothes.

The husband stared at him in disbelief. "Absolutely not!" he barked. "It’s three in the morning!" He slammed the door shut and stomped back to bed, muttering angrily under his breath.

"Who was that?" his wife asked, still half-asleep.

"Just some drunk guy wanting a push," he grumbled.

"And did you help him?" she pressed.

"Help him? Of course not! It’s the middle of the night, and it’s pouring out there!"

His wife sat up, turning on the bedside lamp. "You’ve got a short memory," she said sternly. "Don’t you remember when our car broke down three months ago? Those two kind strangers stopped to help us without hesitation. How can you refuse to do the same?"

The man sighed heavily, knowing she was right. Grumbling under his breath, he got dressed and trudged back out into the storm.

Stepping into the cold rain, he called into the darkness, "Hello? Are you still out there?"

"Yeah, I’m here!" came the faint response.

"Do you still need a push?" the man yelled.

"Yes, please!" the stranger replied eagerly.

Squinting into the gloom, the husband shouted, "Where exactly are you?"

"Over here!" the voice called back. "On the swing!"

  • Let that go.
Holding on too tight will just keep you from the peace that God offers to you.
Surrender your plans, fears, and doubts.
Surrender the past and the hurts.
Surrender the control and let God step in.
He is working behind the scenes.
He replaces our broken stories with brand-new ones.
You'll never know the blessing when you just start to obey Him.
    Trust God—it's worth it.
