TOPIC: "INTIMACY WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT"

THURSDAY 6TH FEBRUARY 2025. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome
    -------------------------------------------------
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen (2 Corinthians 13:14).

The foundational principles of developing a personal and intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit is through the Word of God and prayer. It's important to yield to Him through the Word and deepen your relationship with Him through prayer. Every relationship without communication dies, irrespective of what that relationship is, whether it's the relationship between parents and their children, spouses, co-workers, etc.

On the other hand, good communication nourishes and enhances relationships. If you're going to have a richer fellowship with the Holy Spirit, you need to commune effectively with Him in prayer. He's a person, and you've got to relate to Him as a person. Read our opening scripture again; it indicates the kind of relationship we're supposed to have with the Lord.

The Father is in heaven, and Jesus has gone to heaven; only the Holy Spirit is here with us. The God we know and relate to today is the Holy Spirit. He makes the presence of the Father and the presence of Jesus real to you. So, learn to talk to Him. That's why speaking in tongues is also vital. Speak in tongues often.

The Apostle Paul serves as a great example of a successful Christian and minister, and one of his secrets was fellowship with the Holy Spirit through prayer. He said, "I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all" (1 Corinthians 14:18). If Paul realized it was necessary for him to speak in tongues so much that he could say he spoke with tongues more than the whole Corinthian church, then you must recognize its importance. Speak in tongues every day and every so often, and build a sturdy relationship with the Holy Spirit.

    PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit; I recognize His presence in my life and yield fully to His leading. As I fellowship with Him, my spirit is built strong, and I'm empowered to live victoriously, every day, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

  • Remove your attention and expectations from people and rather focus on Jesus.

It's true that people are to be looked up to but don't totally depend on them because they can disappoint at any time.

Jesus is the only one that never disappoints and he never fails.

He is our number one perfect being and we're all looking up to him to get perfection as well.

This morning, someone had a high expectation concerning something so he was telling me his expectations but it was the reverse and we were giving out possible reasons why it was like that but God knows the best answer.

Take home: put your gaze on Jesus and not on man, church or any ministry to avoid been disappointed.

  • The Tulsa Race Massacre, often referred to as the destruction of "Black Wall Street," occurred in 1921, not in the early 1990s. It was one of the most devastating instances of racial violence in U.S. history. Here is a detailed account of the events:

    ### Background
Greenwood District in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was a thriving African American community known as "Black Wall Street" due to its prosperous businesses and affluent residents. The area was a symbol of black economic success and self-sufficiency in the early 20th century.

    ### The Incident
The massacre began on May 31, 1921, and lasted through June 1, 1921. The catalyst was an incident involving a young black man named **** Rowland and a white woman named Sarah Page in an elevator. Rowland was accused of assaulting Page, although the details of the encounter remain unclear. Rowland was arrested, and rumors of a potential lynching spread.

    ### Escalation
    1. **May 31, 1921:**
    - A white mob gathered outside the Tulsa County Courthouse where Rowland was held, demanding that he be handed over to them.
    - A group of armed black men, many of whom were World War I veterans, arrived at the courthouse to protect Rowland. They were turned away by the sheriff but the presence of armed black men incensed the white mob.
    - Shots were fired, and a violent confrontation ensued.

    2. **June 1, 1921:**
    - The white mob, now numbering in the thousands, began attacking the Greenwood District.
    - They looted and burned homes, businesses, and churches. Private planes were reportedly used to drop incendiary devices on the community.
    - The Oklahoma National Guard was called in, but they reportedly assisted in the arrest of black residents rather than protecting them.
    - The violence continued throughout the day, resulting in the deaths of an estimated 300 black residents and the displacement of thousands.

    ### Aftermath
    - **Destruction:** Over 1,200 homes were destroyed, along with numerous businesses, schools, churches, and a hospital. The economic loss was immense, with property damage estimated at over $1.5 million at the time (equivalent to about $30 million today).
    - **Casualties:** The exact number of deaths is unknown, but estimates range from 75 to 300. Many victims were buried in unmarked graves.
    - **Displacement:** Approximately 10,000 black residents were left homeless and were forced to live in internment camps set up by the National Guard.
    - **Legal Aftermath:** No one was held accountable for the violence. Insurance claims filed by black residents were denied, and the city attempted to pass zoning laws to prevent the rebuilding of Greenwood.

    ### Legacy
The Tulsa Race Massacre was largely omitted from local, state, and national histories for decades. It wasn't until the late 20th century that efforts to uncover and acknowledge the event gained momentum. In recent years, there have been calls for reparations and formal recognition of the massacre's impact on the black community in Tulsa.

The massacre remains a poignant reminder of the racial violence and systemic inequality that African Americans have faced in the United States. Efforts to educate the public and honor the victims continue to this day.

  • LADIES...
When you marry right, there won't be any need to teach your man to treat you well, he will naturally treat you well- no stress, no wahala.

He will love you like Christ loves his church because you are picked from his bone. You are him, he is you. No sane man maltreats himself. Love is effortless and blissful.

But when you marry wrong! When you pick someone else's bone! That man will be dragged and begged over and over again to treat you right because you are not part of him, both of you are not made for each other. He will force himself to do what is not natural with him. That marriage can best be patched and managed. At worst, it will be hell on earth!

    GUYS
When you meet your wife, submitting to you is easy and sweet.

Respect, admiration and adoration comes naturally.

Loving you bring s pleasure to her soul.

There wont be any need to keep reporting her to your Pastor day in day out without any change.

I have only one prayer for you tonight:

    YOU WILL NOT MISCHOOSE!

  • I already dressed half way this morning.. Wearing only a white plain trouser and a singlet, and then decided to brush my teeth before I put on my shirt and comot.

I was brushing when my neighbour papa Junior passed going to work, I greeted him and then the toothpaste bubbles in my mouth accidentally split out and stained my trouser and singlet I was wearing.. The thing come vex me,

After brushing, I turned and saw his wife, mama Junior washing clothes in the compound, she was on wrapper, singing one gospel song and dancing while doing her washing, I then greeted her and...

    Anyway, lemme skip what happened....

    .....
As I came home this evening, I was about opening my door when I saw her husband rushing toward me, fuming in anger

"Flovictor!! How dare you! You have no fear, you foolish guy" he was saying approaching toward me,

Me na I was wondering what he's talking about, before I know, this man rushed and grabbed me oo...

"Aiiiiyieeeoooo, Papa Junior what is this naa, wetin I do?" I asked

"How dare you sleep with my wife"

"Sleep with your wife kwa? Oga how do you mean?" I asked, so confused.

"No even try deny am, you shameless guy... You wey be newest tenant, So this is what you've been doing, I catch you this time, I must call police"

It wasn't a small commotion oo, Papa Junior accusing me of sleeping with his wife, the neighbours gathered to settle the matter, they come ask me whether I do such and I ask them if young girls don finish for the compound wey I go go sleep with person wife?

Now dem come ask papa Junior how he take know sey I sleep with him wife and the man said he has a clear evidence, he went to his house and brought out my my trouser and my singlet, the ones I was wearing morning and then he stated "For morning before I comot go work, na only Flovictor and my wife dey compound, my wife was washing clothes and Flovictor he dey for compound dey brush, I come comot"

    "Eheeee... Continue" the neighbours chorused.

He continued... "As I come back this afternoon, I saw this trouser and a singlet inside my house, I ask my Children whose clothes was that and they said it's Flovictor's clothes, I asked them what it's doing in my house and they said they came home from school and found it on top our bedsheet, now tell me what Flovictor's clothes are doing on top of my bed while I'm not at home"

"Heehh??!!! Flovictor is that true? What do you have to say about this??" one of the neighbours inquired.

Me I don weak 🤦🏾‍♂️ how I go take explain the matter, Children can really complicate matters..

All the neighbours started... Even the young girls in the compound started condemning me, they said they can't believe I can do such a thing, "Person's wife?? Can you imagine! Flovictor nawa oo"
I know even you too reading this story right now believed I did what papa Junior is accusing me of...
    But no be so...

I dey go Church, I no fit do that kain thing

    This is what happened:

I told you my clothes got stained while brushing in the morning...

when I turned and saw mama Junior, I greeted her and we exchanged greetings.

I went inside and pulled my stained trouser and singlet and washed them, after washing I went to the drying line and saw there's no space again, mama Junior has already spread clothes and bedsheet all over the rope and and there are no more space to hang mine ,

I asked her if she can make little space for me to spread mine and she told me she can't, that I should just spread my clothes on top of her bedsheet which she washed and hanged on the drying line, that since it's just a white plain trouser and singlet that they will quick dry and when her children come back from school and start packing their clothes, they will help me and pack them as well.

    That was what happened,

This children didn't explain to their father well that it was on the drying line that they saw my clothes hanging on top the bedsheet.

And Mr man is thinking it was on top of his bed. Wahala for public compound 🤦🏾‍♂️
