National Conference Addresses Learning Challenges
On October 20, 2023, a national conference convened by the Federal Ministry of Education, Universal Basic Education Commission, Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and UNICEF resulted in a commitment to tackle Nigeria's learning crisis. The conference highlighted that only 1 in 4 Nigerian children aged 7 to 14 can read with comprehension or perform simple arithmetic. A 'Framework of Action' was developed, focusing on curriculum reform, teacher training, and increased investment in quality education.
