Using hydroponic fodder for poultry feeds

Hydroponic fodder is young tender grass grown from a cereal grain mostly barley. In essence it replaces grains like dairy meal, pig's feeds and poultry feed concentrates.

Globally, hydroponic fodder is considered to be the best for livestock feed.

The procedure for growing fodder hydroponically is as follows:

1.Weigh 2.3 kg of barley seed.

2.Wash seed until water comes out clear.

3.Discard the ones that float.

4.Make a solution of 2.5ml jik dissolved in 2.5 liters of water and use this solution to soak the seed for 15 minutes.

5.Rinse the seed with clean water two times.

Hydroponic fodder production is a boon for farmers whose soil is rocky and infertile. It is a viable farmer friendly alternative technology for landless farmers for fodder production.

Fodders including maize, barley, oats, sorghum, rye, alfalfa and triticale can be produced by hydroponics.
